XPlanner

XPlanner Home: "XPlanner is a project planning and tracking tool for eXtreme Programming (XP) teams. If you are not familiar with XP software development practices, the links page contains pointers to relevant resources. To summarize the XP planning process, the customers pick the features to be added (user stories) to each development iteration (typically, one to three weeks in duration). The developers estimate the effort to complete the stories either at the story level or by decomposing the story into tasks and estimating those. Information about team development velocity from the previous iteration is used to estimate if the team can complete the stories proposed by the customer. If the team appears to be overcommitted, the set of stories are renegotiated with the customer. The XPlanner tool was created to support this process and address issues experienced in a long-term real-life XP project."

Pagerank Explained. Google's PageRank and how to make the most of it.

Pagerank Explained. Google's PageRank and how to make the most of it.: "Not long ago, there was just one well-known PageRank Explained paper, to which most interested people referred when trying to understand the way that PageRank works. In fact, I used it myself. But when I was writing the PageRank Calculator, I realized that the original paper was misleading in the way that the calculations were done. It uses its own form of PageRank, which the author calls 'mini-rank'. Mini-rank changes Google's PageRank equation for no apparent reason, making the results of the calculations very misleading.

Even though the author abandoned mini-rank as a result of this and another paper, the original, unchanged paper is still available on the web. So if you come across a PageRank Explained paper that uses 'mini-rank', it has been superceded and is best ignored."

Erorr on Installing J2SE on Win 2003 SP1

Java Forums - Cannot install JRE 5.0 for AMD 64: "There is a workaround for this annoyance:

-Go to Add/ Remove programs
-make sure that 'show updates' is checked
-locate windows update KB898715
-delete it
-restart the system
-install the jre (normally , there will be no problem at this level)
-run a windows update to reinstall the removed installer update(KB898715)

PDF Download - A Useful Firefox Extension

www.rabotat.org: "In this page I'm presenting my 'PDF Download' extension, that you can use if you are annoyed to click on a link and then discover that Firefox is loading the Adobe or other PDF plug-in (very heavy) and is trying to show a pdf file directly inside your browser. This extension, every time you click on a link, checks if the target is a pdf file and in this case let you choose what you want to do (open pdf file inside a new tab, download it to the filesystem or view it as HTML).

This extension is useful for example when you don't know the size of the pdf file you want to view. In this case, in fact, if you load the pdf file directly in your browser you need to wait a lot of time in order to load Adobe or whatever PDF plug-in, download the file, and view the file. Using my extension, instead, you can see the file size in the dialog box that appears just after you clicked on a PDF link and then choose to download the file or to view it as an HTML page."

GData: An Online MD5 Hash Database: "GData was started by Gravix as just a project to kill time. The hashes were set up in patterns to allow for faster access time (literally over 60000 times faster than a normal hash database). It later grew and includes CrackLib and all languages from swedish to japanese. When it was originally posted, the database contained a whopping 5.65 million unique entries weighing in at just over 200 mb. The unexpected popularity of the project led its founder to create a website dedicated to it: GDataOnline.com."
