goScreen - Virtual Desktop Manager for Microsoft Windows

goScreen - Virtual Desktop Manager for Microsoft Windows: "As monitor sizes, available RAM and operating system innovations all increase, it is likely that you are going to have more and more applications open on your desktop at the same time. GoScreen makes it possible to organize them the same way you organize files on hard disk - by placing application windows into different desktop folders, or screen pages. This way you could arrange windows by task thus cleaning the desktop. Switching between tasks would mean switching between different desktops.

GoScreen creates up to 40 virtual desktops (screen pages) on your single physical one. Only one screen page is visible at a time. When an application is started, it is placed on the current - 'active' screen page. When you then go to another page, the application is left on the page where it was started - you can always find it there. It is possible to move applications between desktops, define application management rules, relocate application windows to their preferred locations, change attributes of each desktop separately, and so on.

Organize your work by creating multiple workspaces. Run each application, or group of applications on a separate screen. Never minimize any of the applications, never close any of them (if you have enough RAM). When you switch screen pages, all running Windows programs just disappear from the screen and from the taskbar, but they are right there waiting when you switch back."

BreakOut 3D with C# and DirectX

BreakOut 3D: "OK, Im sorry for not having the imagination to come up with something on my own but I really love those classic games. I really miss those days when everything was simple and in two directions. But now its different, people today must have everything in 3d. So here it is, my version of breakout.

The game resolution is 1024x768 and the objects are many and rather complex, therefore the game needs quite good hardware to run properly. I designed the game to run 50 f/s."

StreamTorrent: "The purpose of StreamTorrent is to permit servers with little bandwidth to serve streams to hundreds, thousands or more listeners. Clients connect to each other in a peer-to-peer fashion, forming a tree-like network. The key advantages of this system are:

  • As your listener base grows, so does your 'bandwidth' (in a sense) --your ability to serve the connections grows too. No more hunting around for mirrors for your webcast -- your fans ARE your mirrors.

  • The network is independent of the content. It doesn't matter if you are streaming audio, video, ASCII art, whatever.

  • There's no added complexity for the users---and very little for the source.

Mozilla Stops development

www.9Down.Com - Mozilla Stops development: "The Mozilla Foundation may be ending development of its application suite, but the open-source combination of a Web browser, e-mail client and Web-authoring tool appears likely to continue with the help of its friends.

Mozilla this week changed development course with the suite, announcing that it no longer plans to release Mozilla 1.8 despite earlier betas of the update. Instead, it will end suite development with the current Version 1.7 line and instead focus on its standalone Firefox browser and Thunderbird e-mail client.

While the foundation is retiring the official Mozilla suite, it is open to helping developers in the Mozilla community sustain it on their own."

NewsForge | Legitimate use, open source, keep BitTorrent out of court: "To work, BitTorrent requires a central location to find [content] and a central server. What they're attacking is that centralization. They're attacking the sites where the illegal content is being posted. They're not attacking the technology."
