SAP and Microsoft Announce First Joint Product Designed to Revolutionize How Information Workers Access Enterprise Applications

SAP - SAP and Microsoft Announce First Joint Product Designed to Revolutionize How Information Workers Access Enterprise Applications: "New Product, Code-named “Mendocino,” Will Present SAP Processes and Data within Familiar, Easy-to-Use Microsoft Office Software

COPENHAGEN, Denmark - April 26, 2005 - SAP AG (NYSE: SAP) and Microsoft Corp. today announced they are jointly developing and planning to offer a new product, code-named “Mendocino,” that will help companies gain a competitive advantage by revolutionizing the way information workers access, analyze and use enterprise data to make better business decisions. “Mendocino” will link SAP process functionality directly to Microsoft Office applications. Users of this product, the first to be developed jointly by SAP and Microsoft, will enjoy the familiarity of Microsoft Office as they access SAP’s best-practice business processes and information. The announcement was made at SAPPHIRE ’05, SAP’s international customer conference being held in Copenhagen, Denmark, April 26-28.

With “Mendocino,” SAP and Microsoft aim to drive enhanced efficiency for information workers, who rely on Microsoft Office as their primary work environment. “Mendocino” will tie together Office and SAP enterprise software, giving customers greater visibility and use of business information from their desktop. “Mendocino” will help people avoid wasted time and effort searching for critical corporate information, diminish costly duplication of efforts and limit the need for specific training on disparate systems. “Mendocino” also stands to maximize the value that customers derive from their existing investments in Microsoft Office and mySAP™ ERP.

As part of this expanded partnership, SAP and Microsoft have agreed to each resell the complete solution, meaning SAP will resell Microsoft Office and Microsoft will resell licenses to SAP’s business process platform, which will deliver ready-to-run business processes accessible as enterprise services. Available in 2006, the business process platform will serve as the foundation for the creation and deployment of composite applications such as “Mendocino.”

The new product is slated for availability to select customers for early access in the fourth quarter of 2005. “Mendocino” is designed to integrate SAP processes—such as time management, budget monitoring, organizational management and travel and expense management—directly into Microsoft Office. For example, with the new product, information workers will be able to utilize extended application menus and select process options and information in the SAP-specific smart panel, synchronize information between Microsoft Exchange Server and SAP, retrieve SAP information in Microsoft Excel and submit data via Microsoft Office InfoPath forms."

Teamspeak

Teamspeak::News: "Teamspeak is a quality, scalable application which enables people to speak with one another over the Internet. Teamspeak consists of both client and server software. The Teamspeak server acts as a host to multiple client connections, capable of handling literally thousands of simultaneous users. This results in an Internet based teleconferencing solution that works in a variety of applications such as team mates speaking with one another while playing their favorite online game, small businesses cutting costs on long distance charges, or for personal communication with friends and family.

Among Teamspeak's incredible range of features are crystal clear voice communication, Windows/Linux cross-platform design for both the client and server, a built-in web based administration panel for the server, and a highly scalable user permissions system. An added feature to Authorized Teamspeak Host Providers (ATHPs) that wish to rent servers to their customers includes the ability to spawn multiple instances of the server from a single server session, thus easily facilitating 'server-farming'."

Why Is BitTorrent Downloading So Fast?

WPBFNews.com - Technology - Why Is BitTorrent Downloading So Fast?: "BitTorrent is a protocol that enables fast downloading of large files using minimum Internet bandwidth. BitTorrent costs nothing to use and includes no spyware or pop-up advertising.

Unlike other download methods, BitTorrent maximizes transfer speed by gathering pieces of the file you want and downloading these pieces simultaneously from people who already have them. This process makes popular and very large files, such as videos and television programs, download much faster than is possible with other protocols."

TorrentBox Merges with isoHunt

Slyck News - TorrentBox Merges with isoHunt: "TorrentBox.com has long been a reliable source of information existing on the BitTorrent network. Its pleasant interface and large community made this tracker a comfortable home for approximately 50,000 registered users. However, TorrentBox administrator Hohead has released in a statement that he will no longer administer the site and will relinquish ownership.

Although things may appear shaky on the surface, TorrentBox will continue to exist. As pointed out in Hohead's statement, instead of the site being sold off randomly, it will be given to the capable hands of isoHunt.com's administrator, Gary. This move will allow the two sites to integrate while still maintaining a degree of their independent identities."

Bittorrent Ultra - Next Generation Download

Bittorrent Ultra - Next Generation Download: "Bit Torrent Ultra is software that solves the bandwidth problem for distributing large files like movies. It uses P2P, like Kazaa and Napster but is much more effiicient. If you make a movie available as a Bit Torrent file, you will have a lot less bandwidth problems, even if it becomes very popular, because every time someone downloads the movie, the same person also provides UPLOAD bandwidth for someone else who wants it!"

It is such an improvement of BitTorrent 4.0.0 by Bram Cohen.
