BTQueue 0.1.0 is released in the wild

I’m very exciting to announce the release of BTQueue 0.1.0. After very so long waiting for a year, I have finished BTQueue 0.1.0 and hopefully it works well without the classical bugs, e.g., 100% utilization and freezing.

This version is kind of beta release. You can leave comments and report bugs to help me fix them all. My purpose is to develop BitTorrent client for production run in data center and co-location.

This is the new beginning of BTQueue. By upgrading to 0.1.0, you are able to:

• Utilize DHT network compatible to Bram Cohen’s client and BitComet
  
• Query IP location from updated database plus AS number (see ip2cc)
  
• Change client identifier to Azureus, Bram Cohen’s client, or BitComet

Google PC as a Breaking New in Thailand

Internet search leader Google is to announce the launch of its own budget priced personal computer that will run on a Linux-based operating system and could be sold in conjunction with Wal-Mart, the Los Angeles Times reported last night (Thailand time). The machine, dubbed Google Cube, could present a serious challenge to software giant Microsoft whose Windows operating system currently runs some 90 per cent of the world"s personal computers. Though previous attempts to launch cheap network-based computers have failed, analysts believe that Google"s stellar brand, plus its deep pockets and expertise at building web applications, could give it a chance against the world"s biggest software company. The report said the new computer could be announced as early as Friday when Google co-founder Larry Page is due to address the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

The speculation centers on sources who say that Google is in negotiations with Wal-Mart and other retailers to sell a Google PC that will run a Google operating system and be cheap, maybe as low as $200. That’s what sparked the buzz and piqued my interest. A retail relationship could mean something is not far off. Of course, the article is labeled with the big prediction caveat, so "not far off" could also mean never.

But that’s just the latest in a few months of speculation from somewhat legitimate sources on Google hardware. Last month, Bear Stearns analysts predicted "Google Cubes" that would network music and video between PC and TV. And a few little noticed reports last month toted a possible release of a $200 Google-branded thin client based on partnerships with Wyse Technologies. There’s been even further talk about a Google network box if you go a bit farther back. And let me add to the fire by wondering aloud if the operating system is the first concrete connection with the Sun partnership.

New option of Blogger Web Comments

According to official announcment of Blogger Web Comments by Google, the results was only stricted to my language, Thai, only. By the way, the version 1.01 has been added new option to disable this behavior. To disable this feature, turn off "Strict to my language" option in popup menu.

Web 2.0 by Example

The earlier avatar, that is Web 1.0, would be clearly demarcated content which was fairly static. You could not interact with it, add your comments or leave your mark. You used the software or the content as is and could not collaborate with other users of the same content.  If Double Click, Akamai, mp3.com, content management systems and page views are a few examples associated with Web 1.0, Google AdSense, BitTorrent, Napster, Wikipedia, blogging, cost per click and web services would comprise Web 2.0, explains O’reilly.  For example, with BitTorrent, the service automatically gets better the more people use it. While Akamai must add servers to improve service, every BitTorrent consumer brings his own resources to the party.

Co-founder of the concept, Tim Oreilly, founder and CEO of O’Reilly Media told Business Standard about Web 2.0 in his opinion. The easiest way to understand Web 2.0 is by comparison of Web 1.0 and Web 2.0.

According to the example, mp3.com is comparable to Napster in term of functionality. However, Web 2.0 provides a lot more interactivity and usability.

This is the 201st post to be published on the Google Blog in 2005. In closing out the first full year of our company-wide effort to share news and views, we thought you might be interested in a few factoids. Since we"ve had Google Analytics running on this blog since June, some of these numbers reflect only half a year. In that time, 4.3 million unique visitors have generated 8.7 million pageviews. Readers have come from all over the world, not just English-speaking countries: 53,001 visitors from Turkey have stopped by, for example; so have 155,691 from France, 29,614 from Thailand and 8,233 from Peru.

Let's go to France

The French Parliament voted last night to allow free sharing of music and movies on the Internet, setting up a conflict with both the French government and with media companies.

If the amendment survives, France would be the first country to legalize so called peer-to-peer downloading, said Jean-Baptiste Soufron, legal counsel to the Association of Audionautes, a French group that defends people accused of improperly sharing music files.

The law would be a blow to media companies that increasingly use the courts worldwide to sue people for downloading or sharing music and movie files. Entertainment companies such as Walt Disney Co., Viacom Inc. and News Corp.’s Fox say free downloading of unauthorized copies of TV shows and movies before they are released on DVD will cost them $5 billion in revenue this year.
